THE CLASSICAL BUTEYKO METHOD
Are you tired of living with chronic symptoms?
Asthma · allergies · a blocked nose · breathlessness · snoring · sleep problems · high blood pressure · anxiety · headaches · fatigue · breathing difficulties
Perhaps this has been with you for years. Perhaps you have tried everything, with some things helping a little and others not at all. And some may have helped for a while before the symptoms returned.
“You think to yourself, this is just something I have to live with.”
But what if there is a solution you simply haven’t heard of - the way you breathe? How the body breathes matters; if it does not breathe well, nothing works properly.

THE CLASSICAL BUTEYKO METHOD
What is the Classical Buteyko Method?
In the 1940s, the Russian scientist Konstantin P. Buteyko began studying breathing and its effects on how the body functions.
He believed that chronic overbreathing could contribute to maintaining many chronic symptoms. From this theory, he developed a systematic way to measure breathing, gradually reduce unnecessary breathing volume and track changes over time.
Measure
Observe the breathing pattern and record a starting point.
Reduce
Gently reduce unnecessary breathing volume.
Adapt
Gradually accustom the system to calmer nasal breathing.
Monitor
Assess measurements, symptoms and responses over time.
The aim is not a particular “breathing technique” that you do for ten minutes and then forget. The aim is to change how you breathe throughout the day.
Breathing is considered at rest, during sleep, in movement and in daily life — not only during a practice.
What the student learns
- Observe and measure their own breathing
- Recognise signs of overbreathing
- Gradually reduce their breathing
- Use nasal breathing as much as possible
- Work with breathing at rest, during sleep and in movement
- Track symptoms alongside progress
Konstantin Buteyko and over 200 symptoms
In his theory, Buteyko linked chronic overbreathing to over 200 chronic symptoms and health problems.
His fundamental question was simple: If disturbed breathing can contribute to maintaining symptoms, what happens if we learn to correct our breathing?
What does “Classical” Buteyko mean?
“Classical” refers to the original method and the teaching lineage that preserves the complete system: measurement, individual adaptation, daily training and progression.
The aim is therefore to work with the method as a whole, rather than taking individual breathing exercises out of context.

Senior teacher
Vladimir began his training in the Buteyko Method in 1979 after experiencing allergies and heart problems himself. He later worked within the Buteyko system in the Soviet Union and taught thousands of people.
In 1985, he received a diploma from Professor Buteyko and later a special Audit Diploma. Vladimir has more than four decades of experience with the method.
